Re: Cover of Hitsville UK
Ellen Foley sounds like she's saying "time" but it's supposed to be "trade."

Re: Cover of Hitsville UK
She says "wee" which means little. Doesn't that suggest she's Scottish?
I would know from watching Star Trek.
This is embarassing as hell, but I think I'm in love with her!

Cover of Hitsville UK
This is a great cover of Hitsville UK. Great singing voice. Does anyone know who she is?? It was posted eight years ago. Maybe she became a pro since then. Can't see her name anywhere. She also does White Man In Hammersmith Palais. I do think she is Scottish from her accent, you think? https://www.y...

Re: Clash II Book Coming Soon...Summer 2013
Dear Everybody, I stumbled upon a copy of We Are the Clash at the Alhambra (California) library on Friday. Totally shocked and happy. There I was glumly trying to escape the heat wave thumbing through old encyclopedias (which is what I do for fun). But then I was cool under heat. I liked that photo ...

The Pogues albums without Shane
I shouldn't say this but I totally hate them. On Waiting for Herb the only song I like is Tuesday Morning and even that is predictable pop. The whole album also seems like they had the wrong producer. I just heard Pogue Mahone for the first time. Doesn't work for me. The first track in particular is...

Have you ever met John Lydon?
Have you ever bumped into John Lydon, but not at one of his concerts? If so, what was he like? Does he sign autographs like most other people? I think he lives in Malibu and shops at Ralph's. But he sold his house about three years ago. He also became a US citizen. He was so obnoxious when he was yo...

Re: Steve Jones, Brian Wilson, etc
I just read Steve Jones (Pistols)'s new book. He said he once interviewed Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) and Brian was a complete jerk. Does anyone know what was said? I couldn't find any trace of it on the internet. I can imagine Brian wouldn't like the Pistols. Most of Jones' book tells the story I've...

Re: Bernie Rhodes and Lydon
I just reread Lydon's book. It was indeed Bernie Rhodes who saw Lydon and asked him to come and meet the band.
Lydon went to the Roebuck to meet them and then they went back to Malcolm's shop where he had the jukebox.

Re: The Pogues Thread
The last I heard about The Pogues is Shane injured his pelvis and it's taking a long time to heal. Plus his mother passed away.
Have you heard more?

I thought the jukebox was in the Roebuck club.
Steve Jones' recent book has a transcript of how McLaren described what happened.

Bernie Rhodes and Lydon
Some of the Clash books claim Bernie Rhodes (Clash manager) had something to do with John Lydon becoming the lead singer of the Pistols. Others don't mention this at all. Any ideas? The usual story is the other Pistols and possibly McLaren saw Johnny on the street and he had green hair so they asked...

Joe's teeth
Joe had terrible teeth back in 1977. Did he get the upper right tooth replaced?
They mentioned in Redemption Song there was a long period when they couldn't play because of Joe's dental work. Maybe he got dentures. Or a bridge?

Meeting Joe in 2001
I saw Joe at the Amoeba in SF in 1999. He did 4 or 5 songs from Global A Go Go and then The Harder They Come. We lined up to get his autograph. Correction: it was 2001. Does anyone have any photos or recollections about this appearance? I asked in 2007 on that other forum. There were about 5 photos,...
