Hippodrome 81 soundboard

Postby jimmyjack » 18 Dec 2009, 10:07pm

Does anyone else have a copy of this? I loooooove the audience tape, but was unaware that a soundboard existed.

That is definitely the 1981-05-08 show and not the 1981-05-09 show. I didn't know this soundboard existed. Anyone have any insight?

Yeah, I had no idea one existed. The audience tape of this show is probably my favorite Clash bootleg; such a lively tape, and the perfect amount of crowd noise for everything.

However, it is fun hearing a crystal clear soundboard...

I sent the youtube user a message. Turns out he just favorited a bunch of my videos yesterday, so hopefully I can get a trade or something out of him to get this out.

There's a French radio interview with Mick and Paul from this gig in good quality, but the tape of that is hacked up to skip over the songs that were between the interview segments. Possibility these two chunks of setlist could be the performance segments from that tape and that it was broadcast like this.

SBD's on 3 consecutive nights...that's gotta be a first.

Did you get them in Lossless Matey?
If so can you upload in Flac as well?

Cheers for posting Matey.

Joe's lyrical fuck-ups on LC are even worse than usual. Nice guitar at the end of Junco Partner though.

No, she just sent those over.

I did some research, she said she got it off of the Paris Calling boot -

I had seen this bootleg numerous times before and had assumed it was the audience recording. I suppose I could pick it up next time and do a lossless rip.

You sure? BMC doesn't even list a source for this show beyond the 2nd-gen audience recording. Or pop anything on a Google crawl of the site about a "Paris Calling" boot (although there's probably all kinds of knockoffs by that name on all kinds of shows--most of them probably Chorus '80).

I sent Graham the boot so we'll see what he says.

The Paris Calling boot I listed happens to have the exact same set list as the one I just posted. Seems unlikely that it is the audience boot.

Is the Paris Calling bootleg a factory cd, or just a DIY from a fan?
