Going to see Elvis Costello and the I'm posters tomorrow. I'm a but bummed though that Imelda May isn't opening on this leg of the tour.

I'm also quite bummed because I missed 2 shows last week Jeffrey Lewis (of kick ass stripped down folk version of Crass songs) and Sarah Shook.

Not nearly enough good shows in these parts to miss the good ones when they come along

I saw Blondie and Garbage Friday night. It was fabulous.

I took VH, Jr. to see Violent Femmes/Echo and the Bunnymen Saturday night. Aside from the fact that it was 108 in the shade, the Femmes were incredible, as always. And the Horns of Dilemma backing band really adds to their sound. I'm not usually one for horns in a rock band (X Ray Spex excepted), but they are top notch. I do prefer seeing them in smaller venues - they are far more suited to them than amphitheaters. We ended up leaving before the Bunnymen though because it started lightening and VHJ started freaking out. Apparently I didn't miss much - Ian left the stage several times because of the heat (maybe he shouldn't have worn a fur coat?) and evidently sounded awful. Seeing Depeche Mode in one month and three days WHOO HOO!

The Living End are returning in September, so I'll be seeing them in Seattle and Portland, then I've got Slowdive in October. Looking forward to seeing the new tracks live.

Oh, by the way, Exene Cervenka and John Doe were the first act of the Garbage/Blondie concert.

I will see X in mid-September when they come to First Avenue.

Also on my concert schedule: Social Distortion in two days.

He was here two or three years ago. Him playing Pistols songs on an acoustic guitar. All in all, it was kinda sad. He seems like a nice enough guy, but he's not a front man and playing those songs like that just robbed them of their appeal. My recollection is that he didn't even do any Pistols stories banter between songs, which the crowd would have eaten up.

All the promo stuff is about his Pistols songs so suspect this may be more of the same. Great songs but without John's vocals and Steve's guitar?? They are the two parts I'd pay to hear.
