Some of y'all may remember this thread from the previous incarnation. Posting youtube clips of what you think sounds good on a late night. For me, I usually turn to jazz:

I tend to listen to Post-Punk or Oi! late at night....not that the two have anything in common.

I haven't gotten beyond much drums-centered jazz. I find 1950's Miles Davis to be dull, but 1960's Miles (w/Tony Williams, Ron Carter, and Herbie Hancock) to be pretty awesome. Dig this tear up of the Kind of Blue classic "So What" played at about three times the speed of the original (how punk!)

I sure do love jazz. I like hard bop, the new thing, and the downtown stuff the best.

My Jazz Collection (I own a couple albums by all these people)

-Cab Calloway
-Charlie Parker
-Dave Brubeck
-Dizzy Gillespie
-Fela Kuti
-Frank Sinatra
-John Coltrane
-Louis Armstrong
-Miles Davis
-Mulatu Astatke
-Vince Guaraldi Trio.

Somebody recommend me more jazz. I have basically no preference as long as it's yay and good.

Hank Mobley's Soul Station might be the greatest jazz album ever made.

These are my basic jazz recommendations to everybody:
Hank Mobley - Soul Station
Lee Morgan - the Sidewinder
Horace Silver - Song for My Father (a very latin record)
Art Blakey - Moanin'
Jimmy Smith - The Sermon

If you want some avant/postbop/new thing recs, let me know, but the hard bop should keep you busy.

I'm sorry, that distinction belongs to Joe Henderson's Mode for Joe.

Except for the Sidewinder, I'll say ok to these, but purely on a hard bop standpoint.

What's wrong with Sidewinder?
