How could you forget the magic of Goodnight Vienna?

I am not familiar with this album, so I am telling myself that it his effort at sounding like Cabaret Voltaire.
How could you miss this? It's the album that inspired Depeche Mode!

I believe a purchase of this particular album encouraged Dave Gahan to clean up his act in the 80s.

I vote John as well - on the whole I think his post-Beatles stuff was more musically adventurous than his ex-bandmates. If I had to pick the best solo post-Beatles album it'd be All Things Must Pass, hands-down.
I agree. All Things Must Pass is easily the best solo post-Beatles album. I also like Living in the Material World...which I think is generally underrated.

Saw that in the theatre when I was twelve. I barely knew who Ringo was, but I loved it. Whether I'd still love it is another question entirely.

Their first solo albums show they had one good Beatles LP left. Then the tank would have showed signs of emptiness.

Well, maybe. I tend to think that, however subconsciously, the pushed each other when they were together, improving their talents and stifling their weaknesses. I'd really like to think that John could have reined in the worst of Paul's goopiness.
