Happy 80th birthday, Jet Black!

Post by Vimmattu »

Jet of the Stranglers turns 80. Happy Birthday, Old Codger!

It just occurred to me that he older than pretty much everyone in the rock business. Crazy.

You do know Jet no longer drums in The Stranglers. He stopped a couple of years back due to ill health.

Still great he's got to 80.

Yes I knew his age back then. Charlie Harper is 74 and Knox from the Vibrators is 72. They were the old men of UK punk when so much was made of Joe Strummer's age.

Alan Vega would also be 80, if he was still alive.

Bit of a moot point there then Chuck.

I didn't know he'd died!, saw him in 78' too, Suicide supported The Clash on their On Parole tour at what used to be The Music Machine in Camden Town, hostile crowd but Vega was fearless, he was playing tug of war with the mic cord as the crowd had the other end of it, for 1978 it was new and exhilarating, I bought the 12" of Cheree not long after and the debut album is still a good listen, Rock n Roll electronic, seminal

Well, most do. But Christ not existing at all is definitely a fringe theory.

Well, he did have fairly long hair, so I make you right about the fringe theory.
