Detroit Rock City Poll: KISS vs Mighty Mighty Bosstones

Post by Heston »

Ok, I just listened to the Bosstones' version and it is pitiful. The singer sounds like he's caught throat herpes from Gene Simmons' studded codpiece.

No tactical voting or using alternate accounts, I WILL find out...

I'm abstaining in this vote. I agree with Heston about the MMB version, but Stanley's voice is in over-Stanley form. Just dial it back a bit, buddy—you don't win any awards for most singing. I can abide by the song well enough, especially for KISS, but I can't say which one is best because each is problematic.

Both options are pure herpes, but somehow Heston's still losing.

I'll admit Dicky's vocals on that arent the best but the horns and the breakdown at the end make up for it.

Can I vote for "Beth" which was the b-side until it became more popular than "Detroit Rock City" and was re-released as a double a-side? Do it for The Catman!

Yeah, this. Dicky's doing a vamp of Stanley's vox style here, which may or may not work perfectly (although it's still better than the original since it's Dicky), but the band is turning the song into some barrel rolling third wave goodness, imho. Unless you're actually inclined to enjoy the Kiss house-style, it's hard for me to understand preferring the original.

"Aren't the best?" They are fucking appalling. I like horns but they just sound tacked on.

Even with the usual tactical voting I should win this comfortably.

I'm being quite honest not tactical. I listened to both, MMB first as I'd never really heard it. I am a MMB fan but I rarely listen to them these days. The horns dont sound tacked on to me, MMB always have horns.

Both is shit but shitter is bosstones, that is bad singing guys.

In volgograd the authorities fought against kiss, put them on a punk blacklist, for that they remain rebels of the west. And I vote for.

He's practically goading me into voting against him for his arrogance.

I've just checked back on every poll I've created and I'm losing in all of them, the law of averages says I must win one day.
