I've come across someone calling Butler the "Son of Rotten" before, but adding a little Bowie to the batter makes even more sense.

It was Richard Butler talking to DJ Billy Sloan about meeting Bowie at a Furs gig at Hurrahs, New York. Bowie was with David Johansen and David Byrne. Bowie and Byrne were joking with one another as to which one of them should produce The Furs.
