Baseball Songs?
Re: Baseball Songs?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

My recollection is that none of the Mermaid Avenue songs had music written for them before BB and Wilco took on the chores.rcs wrote:did woody ever record that?revbob wrote:I was listening to my lastfm songs and the Billy Bragg/Wilco song "Joe DiMaggio Done it Again"

Re: Baseball Songs?
Ken Burns' Baseball soundtrack, including "Joltin' Joe DiMaggio," "Say Hey (The Willie Mays Song)," and "Did You See Jackie Robinson Hit That Ball?" (and nine thousand versions of the Star Spangled Banner). Apparently Burns is working on a 10th Inning for Baseball, which will cover, among other things, steroids and the 2004 Red Sox (Burns is a Sox fan). A professor friend of mine who's a Civil War guy had lunch when he was a grad student with Burns. Said that he's never met a more arrogant guy, and Bill was someone who found the good in pretty much everybody.
And The Baseball Project, which Flex had donated some months ago.

I have 4 or 5 albums of baseball songs (some compilations, some from specific bands). I'll do an upload bonanza this weekend.
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a bowl of soup
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead
Pex Lives!

Re: Baseball Songs?
Jonathan Richman has that Walter Johnson song.
Then there's songs that have a mention of baseball, Mrs Robinson would be one.
