Johnny Marr is coming to Milwaukee in May!!
And Morrissey will be cancelling shows in Canada at the last minute for the first time in around 15 years.

Violent Femmes co-headlining with X in May! In the JORTSVILLE.
Cool, I would love to see X before they or I die. Just hope Exene can keep a lid on the batshit craziness.

As long as it's out of envy, I'm good with that.

That sounds double horrible.

I was going to seriously ask Doc perhaps if Mr Marr has any non Smith's music worth looking into. I guess I never tried focusing just on the music the vox always ruined things for me.

His recent solo albums are good, imo, tho he's only a passable singer. There's plenty of fan recorded concert video on The YouthTube that should give you a sense of whether you'd enjoy yourself or want to murder all the precious Smiths fans in the audience (which, well, might also be enjoyable).

Recent sets look pretty good: solo stuff, Smiths, Electronic. He doesn't have the strongest voice, but to hear the man himself play There's A Light That Never Goes Out is worth the price of admission by itself.

And give them what they want?? Never!
But seriously I'll check the youtubes.

He does. I've enjoyed his solo albums and his work with The The, Modest Mouse, The Cribs, Electronic. I should add that I do tend to regard Johnny Marr with a godlike level of reverence. He's played on a lot of songs - not always as a member of a particular band - but whenever I hear him - I know it's him playing.
