Yup. Which is why, as many others have observed, it seems easier to conceive of the end of the world than a world without capitalism. Certainly true in my case.Wolter wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:28pmCapitalism always devours its biggest critics over time.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:25pmSo, Suicide being used to sell perfume. I can split the difference. I can conceive of a world without capitalism, but it would take a cataclysm/crisis that ALMOST ends everything to weaken it enough for that to happen.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:31pmYup. Again, yeah. So much of my "hope" for significant change assumes cataclysm, like environmental collapse, that I hate myself for thinking it's going to take mass death and species extinction along the way.Wolter wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:33pmI can split the difference. There were smarmy dudes in suits manning the register who would come up and ask if I needed any help, as if anyone ever goes into that store for anything other than to see what the hell happened. I'd feel bad for them, but you gotta know what you're taking on with a job in a location like that.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:25pmSo, Suicide being used to sell perfume. On the commercial front, Biggie is being used to sell a new "thin" oreo. The ad actually worked on me, in that I thought it was amusing and it made me sort of want to try to the product (tho I won't). I am traitor to the revolution.

Well, I mean that falls under "cataclysm/crisis" for me. Or at least a "crisitunity."Kory wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:39pmWHAT ABOUT VIOLENT REVOLUTION?Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑14 Aug 2017, 12:37pmAgain, yeah. I'm not a big fan of the Libertines, but they have some great songs. Right now my favorites are Man Who Would be King and Heart of the Matter.
