This came on the radio today, hadn't heard it for ages. Highly suspect lyrics but it has a certain charm I can't put my finger on. The Limeys will know the singer as Wayne from Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.

I was also reminded of this classic theme tune from the early 80s...

There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Haha I just sang along to the Murphys Mob theme but hadn’t heard it in 30 years. How do you remember stuff like that when you can’t remember your own car rego?

I was reminded of this the other day and have played it several times since. Such an affecting cover, suggesting dread and yet wonderment.

I'd never encountered until today a music video by the delightful Elisabeth Esselink aka Solex. Her album Low Kick and Hard Bop is a fully satisfying bit of collage music.

Never been a huge Stars fan—their singles are often stellar and the rest quite meh—but I've been listening to them a bit more intently this week. They do alienated/doomed love song as well as anyone, and there's something about Amy Millan's voice—a bit defeated but nonchalant—that I just trust.

Yep pretty much spot on mate. The band feature Ian Skelly (Coral) and Paul Molloy (Zutons) as I like both of those bands I thought I would check out Serpent Power and picked up their album "Electric Looneyland" it's a fun listen.

Great song and had real cult status round my way, it was like the theme tune to our lives (along with Waiting For My Boyfriend).
Saw them play it live supporting The Jam in 1980.
