What Are you Listening to Right Now?
Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
I love Rockpalast. They should have every broadcast available online somewhere.

Not bad, but obviously the best stuff is in the 80s. Thanks, I'll be checking this out!Olaf wrote: ↑26 Dec 2018, 7:29pmhttps://www1.wdr.de/mediathek/video/sen ... --100.html
Only going back as far as 2004 though.

The 1997 version of Static Age sounds better (in my opinion) than the one that was on the box set. Not sure what they did...but it has more punch. I think I once read that the box set version was sourced from a cassette that Jerry Only had...while the version that came out in 1997 was from the actual masters that were in the possession of Danzig.

I've just read Michael Bradley's autobiography so been hammering the Undertones.
Man, they could have a great singles comp made out of tracks they never released as singles.

Got my vinyl singles boxes out for the first time in a while. Played a couple of my Flexipop magazine discs, including Madness, a version of My Girl. Marky, did you put that on one of your compilations?

One of my favourites from the more recent Rockpalast shows (sadly just half an hour long):

I've got a download of the lower quality version. I'll have to check this one out. Lyrically I find them pretty silly but Danzig has such a great voice and you really can't help but sing along to a lot of their songs.WestwayKid wrote: ↑27 Dec 2018, 11:37amA1G02xoNo5L._SX355_.jpg
Inspired by seeing some kid wearing a Misfits shirt the other day...I pulled out this great disc. One of those bands that I've always really liked...but when I play them after not hearing them for awhile...I'm also blown away by how good they sounded!

Never heard of this band before but I'm obsessing on this number. I've always said a great punk rock song should leave you asking yourself "what the fuck just happpened?" It should be kind of like a bunch of guys coming out of nowhere and kicking your ass and then running off. Only without the concussion and the broken ribs and teeth and so on.
OK, I never said that but it's still true nonetheless.
So yeah, I never heard that song before something tells me Davey Havok did.

I didn't because it's been officially released as a bonus track on the reissues.

Thanks, I hadn’t realised that. I like the version and was pleasantly surprised that the Flexi disc still played fine. The other ones are bands like Haysi Fantayzee, Culture Club, Toyah, Blue Rondo A La Turk, Blancmange, definitely very 80s.

Re: What Are you Listening to Right Now?
Yeah, the lyrics are silly...but also delightfully over the top. I love the sound of Danzig's voice and the power of the band overall - a lot of their songs are really darned catchy. Definitely a band to simply enjoy and grin like a goon (or ghoul) while listening!!revbob wrote: ↑27 Dec 2018, 7:25pmI've got a download of the lower quality version. I'll have to check this one out.
