Nope, this one just isn't doing it for me. Other than “Fascination Street” and “Disintegration,” the thing just drags with its own sense of being big and heavy. Nothing wrong with epic-sounding records, but this doesn't energize; it makes me look at the clock.
Full agreement on this one. But those two stand-outs are excellent.

It does go on a bit long. I do like this album. I do think many of the songs sound much better live.

Picked this up when it first came out, but making my first real deep dive into some of the middle period recordings. My only complaint with the set is that it leaves out some of their non-album singles (Hot Love, Summertime Blues). Dandy in the Underworld is a really good album and it makes me really wonder where he would have gone next.

That's a nice package for value. I've got all the two disc editions with demos/outtakes etc.

Are those the ones with the alternate albums on them? I have a couple: Tanx, Zinc Alloy, Zip Gun. I never got around to picking up Dragon or Dandy.

It's a great place to start, especially the earlier discs, some amazing stuff on there, the last disc has some iffy recordings but also has Mellow Love and Love Drunk which is an indication of where Marc might have gone after Dandy.

Avoid Acoustic Warrior at all costs, just crap compilation with fake audience noise

check this out for some groovy stuff

How is the T. Rex Unchained collection?
Amazingly spotty but the highs are high.

The lows are seriously scraping the bottom of the barrel.

I was wondering that considering it's 8 volumes.

Scanning some of the song titles reminds me that Bolan had some of the most "interesting" song titles in rock history!

Besides the great 2 disc versions of the albums and Unchained series there is a massive 6 CD BBC set and a collection that I adore is Need TV Vol 1-4

Don't forget Electric Warrior has 40th anniversary disc with a second disc of outtakes and sessions. I could go on and on!

If you are really in the mood check out the Tyrannosaurus Rex catalog, Beginning of Doves, My people Were Fair, Prophets Seers, Unicorn and Beard of Stars.

there is a whole new world out these for you
