EMI times one billion
Hello,

Agreed.
Sorry, Complete Control is much better than EMI.
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

Wolston. I don't think EMI cracks my top ten Pistols tracks, whereas CC is a top 3 Clash track at least.

The sole area of superiority for EMI vs. CC is understanding what the singer is saying. It was years before I finally learned the lyrics to CC, which cleared up what Joe was singing with all those pretzels in his mouth.

CC is one of those songs where I understood most of it without a lyric sheet, though I was weaned on bootleg versions which may have been more clearly sang.

WolstonnyB. I usually skip EMI if I'm listening to Bollocks.

Yeah, but even before I knew the lyrics, CC moved me. In a good way. Probably my second favorite Clash song.

Certainly—CC sounds better, more snarl to it.

EMI isn't one of the three or four good Pistols songs, so CC wins.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Oh, jeez, I've agreed with Hoy and Heston on the same day. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Whoa there, I love EMI, it just isn't the utter masterpiece that CC is. I love all of Bollocks except Problems, that is a rank average song.

Yes, still better than the plodding Supremes version.
