The Cramps appreciation thread.

The coolest band that there ever was. Discuss.

This is my new belt that I just finished a few days ago. It's not pictured, but the keeper (the little loop that secures the belt end) reads "LUX".

Bryan Gregory is highly underrated in their history.

I'd say he gets his fair due. The thing with the Cramps is that you can't say things like "Oh Bryan Gregory, what a GREAT guitar player.." They had something that went beyond music. One of the last bands to hit on the primal urgency of rock and roll.

Now, Miriam Linna, THERE is an underrated Cramps member.

I know this gets said a lot but it can really never be said enough: I don't know if human language is capable of conveying just how rad you are, moddie.

Also, The Cramps rule.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

The Cramps do indeed rule.

Years ago, I posted on this board a recounting of the time I crawled up onto the onstage stack of speakers at a Cramps show at First Ave here in Minneapolis. I did so to take some close-up photos of the band. (If I tried such a stunt today, I would be wrestled to the ground by security.)

Anyway, Lux came over and took off my glasses and wore them for two songs.

A quick search of IMCT didn't turn up that post, but I'll try again later.

And I'll also try to find the pics from that night and post them here. That might take a while, though.

And again ... The Cramps rule.

Just an advance head's-up folks.

January 25th at Otto's Shrunken Head in NYC will be the first LUX LIVES! event of 2014.

For the uninitiated, LUX LIVES! is a tribute to the life and legacy of Lux Interior and the Cramps. LL is put on and hosted by Kogar The Swinging Ape (the man responsible for the absolutely essential LUX AND IVY'S FAVORITES series of compilations). Cover charges and proceeds from the nights are donated to the Best Friends Animal Society in Lux's name (this is the charity chosen by Ivy).

The NYC event on Jan. 25th is special in that there will be an auction of Cramps/Lux-related items and artwork. All proceeds will benefit Best Friends. I am personally donating a Cramps-themed handmade leather belt that I am working on at the moment.

If you're in the area, be sure to check it out. It's for a good cause, and you'll also be treated to a great DJ set from Kogar hisself, and live entertainment from The Spastiks!

Stay sick! Turn blue!
