12.14 am? I'd bet the farm that I'm dreaming that I'm a Viking fighting for a treasure chest of sponge toffee.

I like how my last post was a firey political poo-flinger while Steve was indulging the 'sweet action' over in Groovy Times. And Inder was auctioning off his left nut in LITS forum.Dr. Medulla wrote:12.14 am? I'd bet the farm that I'm dreaming that I'm a Viking fighting for a treasure chest of sponge toffee.

No. But two of the people having birthdays today would've just started nursery school this month.daredevil wrote:Is newest member Karlo Marx still here?

November is the 6th anniversary of Gippah's Eighteen-star Meltdown and Inder solemnly taking the oath of office as the new site admin.

Wait—huh? I've been around that long, haven't I? Inder's been the fearless leader during that whole time as far as I know. Some board history please.Rat Patrol wrote:November is the 5th anniversary of Gippah's Eighteen-star Meltdown and Inder solemnly taking the oath of office as the new site admin.

There were more moving parts to the scene back in the day. Inder ran the "classic" IMCT MP3 download site (god I love Web Archive) as an official Satch's affiliate site, the main forums had a different host and technical admin, Steve was lead moderator, and there were like 2 or 3 other deputy-mods in the picture too.Dr. Medulla wrote:Wait—huh? As I recall from reading about The Great Unpleasantness on SNews at the time while the site was down and we were (not for the last time) huddling in UnicornLand homeless and freaked out...the admin guy got a wee cranky at some ongoing GNDA threaddriftilarity going on, deleted the whole server in a snit one evening, sent some nastygrammes out to certain individuals, and left the scene one-finger-raised. The braintrust convenend, Inder donated his extra server space for a replacement board and volunteered to do the admin, and like a week later the place was back under new management.
The before-before time board (which was before my time) was just a ramshackle few lines of buggy HTML on Steve's (Tripod or Geocities or whatever cheapo host was all the rage during the Clinton presidency) webspace that outgrew itself in no time flat and needed more technical polish than he knew how to provide. I've actually seen what the Keith Levene-lineup board looked like...the old posts stayed up for a couple of years after it was migrated. Very...uh...pub rock.

Much appreciated (as always), RP. I know that I joined after Joe died, but I thought it was shortly thereafter. But I must be off by a good year as I don't recall The Great Unpleasantness. Eummy is twenty-one and I'm pretty sure he was sixteen when I joined, so 2003 must be about right. I must have joined right after the switch to gcuber. A lot of people joined up right after Joes death, I joined around the January / february so that would be early 2003 ?? but I remember there was a lot around Xmas 2002.

I joined Feb 03, but had lurked before that. I was more of an alt.music.clash person tho.
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .
