Esmark's answer is boring, so I will disregard that, and assume a boffin is a large flightless bird that lives in Tahiti.

Keep turning it on and off until it works. If that doesnt work say fucking computers , slap the side of the monitor and storm out, its usually working by the time you get back.

Ok, so I took 101's advice and my original problem's now resolved. ;)
No, thanks everyone, whatever one of you told me, it worked.

But can any of you boffins help with my new problem?
I'll be browsing on my computer, using the AOL browser I always use then suddenly this Explorer page pops up....
Image
I close it....2 minutes later, it pops up again with a different ad...I close it, it pops up again etc. etc.
I have all the usual blockers in place, and have done all the scans.
I have Explorer installed on my computer but don't use it, I assume you need it to power my AOL browser, or could I just delete Explorer?

My knowledge of terminology of computer problems is rather useless, please be easy on me. :disshame:
There's a tiny, tiny hopeful part of me that says you guys are running a Kaufmanesque long con on the board

It may be one of the "special AOL members-only popup offers" this site describes and helps remove:

Hope it helps

Ignore this post, the pop ups are back again!

I ran Spybot search and destroy, they stopped for a while, but now they're back.
