It's true, we do sound like the "my 8-year-old could do that" brigade, but I like Pollock, who is arguably even less talented.
I didn't like Pollock until I saw one in person. Jesus that was an experience.

I've wondered if I'd have that experience. I look at Pollock and intellectualize it, so to speak, and so I shrug my shoulders. So I wonder if it's more of a visceral experience that demand proximity and a sense of scale and texture.

The latter for me. There’s so much depth there.

To see a room filled with giant Jackson Pollocks is something amazing to behold. IN NYC at MOMA they have several in their collection and it is something truly to behold. https://www.moma.org/calendar/exhibitions/226

Yeah, I've seen one at Seattle Art Museum (kinda normal sized) and one at the Met in NY (which is huge). It's a bit like looking into a vortex or something.
Wolt, was it any of these? I'm curious about the piece that struck your heart: http://www.artic.edu/aic/collections/ar ... 2C+Jackson

That is a cool one. I'm not sure I've seen it before—it's definitely a little more structured looking than the ones I've seen in person at least. Did you ever see the Ed Harris film?

*sigh* No. Other than some very provincial thinking, she and her twin sister are good people.

I will say this: all the rods and cones in your eyes are activated by his work, and for several minutes afterwards you can still see it when looking at a white wall.
