Machado to the Padres. Wouldn't you prefer to take a little less to play on a good/winning team?
I don't follow the Padres closely, but maybe they're a year or two away from challenging? Regardless, I'm a bit bummed that the Yankees didn't get him because he smells of free agent bust to me. A shit ton of talent, but his attitude and habits to this point make me think he's going to dog it now that he's got the big deal.
Their farm system is stacked. And those graduates should be coming up in 2 or 3 years when a lot of the current big teams right now (Sox, Yanks, Astros) might be starting to decline. If the Padres can sign an ace in the next few years they could be major contenders...
My thoughts exactly ^^^

Machado opts out after 5 If he isnt dealt away by other means before then and the Padres remain mediocre at best. Anyone care to wager on this?

What a bizarre - yet oddly charming story...

Eck re-signing at NESN to do 85 games this season. Praise the lord and pass the ammunition!

Which suggests that Remy's being phased out. No surprise there, tho, obviously, I hope it's more Remy wanting to take life slower than his cancer being an active issue.

Now, if we can get Eck and Spaceman in the booth at the same time, that'll be the greatest game ever called.

I never liked the guy's writing, but way too young to go. Very sad.

Hence your SCAC/DMB fantasy co-headliner show.

Back in the good ol' days, Steinbrenner would have put his manager on notice and fired the bullpen coach to prove he's serious after losing an exhibition game to the Red Sox. His kids don't deserve the team.
