If you'd stopped in Vermont you could have gotten all kinds of overpriced IPAs.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 3:34pmYeah, you have to pay for it but it's damn good. Yeah, compared to older generation IPAs, the new canned haze is a lot more pricey, but compared to the barrel aged stuff I have a hard on for, it's still a fraction of the price.BostonBeaneater wrote: ↑12 Jun 2018, 3:34pmYeah, you have to pay for it but it's damn good. Side note, I'm heading to Amherst in September and am hoping on stopping by Treehouse on the way.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

I quit drinking due to health concerns (my heart rate would spike every time I drank).
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Well, that's unfortunate. Any alcohol or do you have to really tie one on?

Even just a bit of wine. I stopped drinking to drunkenness years ago for the most part (except Christmas and major celebrations, but my last Christmas was sober).Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑13 Jun 2018, 12:58pmWell, that's unfortunate. Any alcohol or do you have to really tie one on?

I quit smoking years ago too. I also don't really drink coffee much now. I am turning Mormon against my will.JennyB wrote: ↑13 Jun 2018, 1:00pmThat sucks, gene. Re: Thread O'Booze REVISED!
Yeah, I haven't been able to figure it out. Carby foods also do it to me, and it's linked to severe panic attacks that spring on me from out of nowhere. I had a lot of hard living in my 20s, often eating little or not at all, followed by years in a part-time minimum wage job where the only bit of fun I could afford was having a drink (hello Kaleb). I suspect the malnutrition and substance use may have caught up with me. The other problem is that when I started going to school I gained a ton of weight (combo of weird hours, walking less, and giving up nicotine). So my plan is to lose the weight and see if that makes a significant impact, then maybe I could have a beer once in a while. But yeah, obviously anything heart-related is pretty scary. Unfortunately I am currently uninsured so going to the doctor is right out.Dr. Medulla wrote: ↑13 Jun 2018, 1:03pmShit. My resting heart rate is really low, actually, 60-75 which is supposed to be very good.

Re: Thread O'Booze REVISED!
Losing weight can have all kinds of unexpected impacts. No idea whether there's a meaningful connection, but when I got my weight down to around 180 lbs, a lot of epilepsy-related stuff decreased (fewer glitches, much fewer seizures).eumaas wrote: ↑13 Jun 2018, 1:08pmYeah, I haven't been able to figure it out.
