I was just tweeting with Wolter yesterday about how justified racism against bolians is.

We never learned a thing from Martin Bolian King, Jr., have we?

I needs my Jason Isaacs, so I think I may even watch this thing you guys refer to as Star Trek.

Re: Star Trek
I'm just disappointed. I'm a little soured on prequels in general. Also, the movies were already semi-prequels, and Enterprise was a prequel (and the only Trek I've never finished).
I feel that there is a fascistic element, for example, in the Rolling Stones . . .

Re: Star Trek
The danger—likelihood, I fear—is that it ends up being like the last season of Enterprise—fan wankery. Every dumb "hole" that obsessives thought would be cool to fill is pursued.

Re: Star Trek
I've not watched a series since DS9 which I think set a pretty high bar. I found Voyager pretty boring the few times I watched and never bothered with the Quantum Leap guy series because it just looked dull. It looked like it should have been filmed in black and white. I'll give this new one a shot so long as it is easy to come by, I certainly ain't gonna pay.

The Boss had never seen "Spock's Brain" before. She seems unpersuaded by its genius.

Re: Star Trek
I'm actually wondering if I want to watch Quantum Leap. I watched a little on its first go, only occasionally though.

Re: Star Trek
I only watched a few episodes when it was originally on, and, I dunno, two or three years ago I checked it out on Netflix. It was pretty lame.

I remember seeing ads for the series all the time, but it looked really silly and I'm not enough of a sci-fi fan to make the effort. Was it any good?threecoffins wrote: ↑09 Jun 2017, 8:24pmAnyone here an Alien Nation fan? Either the movie or the tv. Sorry, it's off topic now

Re: Star Trek
I'm a sci fi nerd but it was a late discovery for me. It basically trod the exact turf as District 9 except with a buddy cop angle. The show is worthwhile for dorks but the movie is actually about as good as 48hrs for a gritty cop flick with a sci fi aftertaste. James Caan plays the speciesist LA cop who gets partnered with the alien refugee Mandy Patinkin. The alien mafia boss is played by Terence Stamp. I'm a noir fan, so if I see the movie on the tv machine, I'll give it a shot.threecoffins wrote: ↑09 Jun 2017, 10:05pmI'm a sci fi nerd but it was a late discovery for me.
