I remember my mom (born in the 1950's) telling me about a chimp named J. Fred Muggs - who was on the Today Show when she was young...well...J. Fred Muggs is still alive and apparently well at the age of 66! I know chimps can have lifespans similar to humans...but I would have guessed a chimp who was on television in the 1950's would have been long gone by now.
Some chimps can live to a ripe old age. We've got one here she is sadly running (ruining) the country.

Haha. There is one at Auckland Zoo who was there back in the days of the chimp tea parties etc. in the 1960’s. She has to live in an enclosure on her own as she doesn’t speak chimp language so can’t mix with the others. She also carries a pink mobile phone at all times which wouldn’t go down well.

Ok so she died 5 years ago but shit 50.5W turned 18 last week its been a while since I went to the Zoo!
