I'm hard at work translating a difficult passage related to a numerical system devised for categorizing barbarian women. The text seems to degenerate into a demented fantasia and may be a late addition to the manuscript, though perhaps its uncharacteristic traits are indicative of Hoydides being an earlier entry in the corpus, as it does not share the careful philosophical constructions of later dialogues such as Philebus. However, it could bear some relation to Critias; the numerical categorization proposed by Mateus and derided by Socrates et al, and the following hallucinatory fantasia may play an analogously allegorical role to that of Atlantis in Critias.

Socrates just doesn't get the logic behind it.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

The Hoyic dialect of Ancient Greek is very difficult.

Had no internet so I couldn't consult references, so I'm afraid I'll have to delay the post.

Noticed last night that the originals for the fragments weren't here, so...
(11:43:13 PM) creets: don't make excuses for Minotaur.
(11:43:26 PM) eumaas: Hey
(11:43:35 PM) eumaas: I'm no friend of Minotaur, trust me
(11:43:50 PM) eumaas: But you can't expect Minotaur not to get his own when you aren't putting out.
(11:44:53 PM) Flex0r_P [Mibbit@mib-45AE9DA7.hsd1.co.comcast.net] entered the room.
(11:45:15 PM) Flex0r_P: I believe I read something about sex with thundercats...
Cretea: You should not plead the Minotaur's case, O Socrates.
Socrates: I assure you that I do not number the Minotaur among my friends, Cretea, but you cannot expect the Minotaur to restrain his passions when you do not yield to them any longer.
Flexides (entering the room): I heard rumor of intercourse with lion-men imbued with Zeus's thunder.
(02:19:36 AM) eumaas: Matey is going to New Orleans
(02:19:50 AM) Flex0r_P: Jesus, wasn't Katrina enough,
Socrates: Mateus is traveling to Thespiæ.
Flexides: By Zeus, was not its razing by Xerxes punishment enough?
<matedog> fuck me, I have to go find steering wheel fluid for my lame friends
Mateus: I must away to Eleusis with fatty grease for friend Crito's chariot wheel.
