I can't stand Downton Abbey I like my period drama to have some attitude and grime to it.revbob wrote: ↑20 Mar 2017, 6:15pmI haven't read any critics reviews. I don't know about over there but over here most people prefer their English period pieces to be like Downton Abbey, Remains of the Day, Sense and Sensibility etc. Taboo was none of these things and more. The portrayal of the king was delightful.Marky Dread wrote: ↑20 Mar 2017, 5:32pmYeah me too. I agree about Tom Hardy's voice at times. I hope we'll get a season 2 as he (Tom Hardy) lost a fair bit of money on it. It's had very mixed views from critics.revbob wrote: ↑19 Mar 2017, 1:39pmIt's mainly the main character who I have a problem understanding he doesn't enunciate very well, still loved this though. Looking forward to season 2.Marky Dread wrote: ↑19 Mar 2017, 12:04pmIt's like Jamaican stuff. If you don't get it then it ain't for you.
Taboo is pretty great.

I'm enjoying the hell out of the new season of Fargo. Don't know where the story is going to take me but it looks to be a fun ride.

The best part of the American one for me is that it's basically set in the trashiest parts of Chicago, and it rings fairly true.JennyB wrote: ↑23 Mar 2017, 5:08pmGreat - I will. Certainly has more humour than the first two seasons. Which isn't to say that the earlier seasons were just bleak, but so far season 3 has more of the black comedy of the movie.

Me too. I decided that it's something I'll have to blitz thru on a weekend. Week to week, I had too much trouble following what the fuck was going on and just gave up.revbob wrote: ↑01 May 2017, 7:47pmYeah I did that too for like 5 episodes.tepista wrote: ↑01 May 2017, 5:53pmI haven't started yet, maybe today. shit, i havent started Saul yet either. I'm a fan of postwar noir so I'm biased, but I'm really digging current Archer.I'm way behind on the new Archer and have only seen the first Saul.

This season of Fargo is so great. in the first episode, they shot a bridge tournament in a rundown community center like it was a high stakes Vegas poker movie.

The series and the movie, I've mentioned before, have those little touches that bring me back to rural Saskatchewan. It's not nostalgia for me, but there is something about the awareness or observations that make me smile.
