I keep thinking the thread title says "Union of the Snake" and get my hopes up we have a dedicated Duran Duran thread.
Dedicated DD thread? I’m a hard core Duranie. My very first concert!
I saw them in 83, love the first coupla albums.
Last album was really good. Might be some technology involved...but Simon’s voice has aged very well. They’re like a rollercoaster: some real weak spells...but always find a way back up. Even the comeback album were hit and miss. Astronaut was okay, Red Carpet had moments...but All You Need Is Now and Paper Gods were really good. They were always a weird hybrid of Berlin-era Bowie, Chic, Roxy, Kraftwerk, Pistols...but they created something unique and through the decades they’ve been able to still sound current. Pressure Off with NIle and Janelle was a great single.
That must be some technology because he couldn’t sing for shit.

He forgets that DD sounded closer to punk in 1981 than the Clash did.

Lol.

Not sure about that, I think he was ok but had some unflattering moments. He was certainly better than Tony Hadley.
Tony Hadley had a great voice ( songs not so much).

I always thought Simon Le Bon's singing voice resembled Brian Eno's.

Is that the same Tony Hadley who was nicknamed "The Foghorn" by his own band?

I'd rather talk about Duran Duran than about Trump or the latest clone to crawl out of the Kennedy vats.

So...was the state of our Union strong again?

That earlier disco-y version of "Girls on Film" is great.

When I was a Top 40 simpleton, I absolutely loved Seven and the Ragged Tiger. Played the cassette until the ink rubbed off. When I dl'd it a few years back to see whether it held up … it did not. At all.
