Unseen Joe pic May 76

Post by white man »

Unseen by me anyway. I know they played Bracknell in May. This must be the last pic of Joe with the band live(or otherwise).

I assumed the date was wrong, but maybe he cut his hair right before leaving.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Great find! This photo - and the band's appearance - look like it could have been taken yesterday.

Thanks from me too. Great picture. Can't be easy singing with a guitar lodged in your mouth!

Its rare to see a colour shot of the band, John. Especially in such great quality. Everything else has appeared grainy. Did they have camera phones back then.

I love this pic. Is it confirmed to be from '76? I wonder if it's later after The Clash been together for a while. Elgin Avenue Breakdown was released in '81 and I wonder if this pic is from a gig they may have done. Joe's hair and those narrow jeans the guitarist is wearing just look out of place for '76.

I can't see how that could possibly be '81. I doubt any band was looking as uncool as that by '81. Very long odds on its '76 as originally stated.

I think he meant in 81 but trying to look as they did in 76?
