Joe's teeth
Joe had terrible teeth back in 1977. Did he get the upper right tooth replaced?
They mentioned in Redemption Song there was a long period when they couldn't play because of Joe's dental work. Maybe he got dentures. Or a bridge?

I believe he produced an album for a Spanish band who paid him by getting some plastic teeth fitted.vacuumcleaner wrote: ↑30 Jul 2017, 5:03pmJoe had terrible teeth back in 1977. Did he get the upper right tooth replaced?

Re: Joe's teeth
Nah, it was an English band, the Little Roosters. My band played on the same bill as the singer's (Gary Lammin) latest band last month and I asked him about it. He said they were implants and it was quite expensive.Silent Majority wrote: ↑30 Jul 2017, 5:04pmI believe he produced an album for a Spanish band who paid him by getting some plastic teeth fitted.vacuumcleaner wrote: ↑30 Jul 2017, 5:03pmJoe had terrible teeth back in 1977. Contrary to Heston, I heard it was a Spanish band as well. Drawing a blank on th band name. Definitively between LC and S!Silent Majority wrote: ↑30 Jul 2017, 5:04pmI believe he produced an album for a Spanish band who paid him by getting some plastic teeth fitted.vacuumcleaner wrote: ↑30 Jul 2017, 5:03pmJoe had terrible teeth back in 1977. Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Salewicz said it was the Little Roosters in Redemption Song. He did not get involved with the Spanish band - called 091 - until late 1984.

Can we put a date on when he got his teeth fixed? I was watching the Call Up video and I don't think they'd been done by then. I wonder if it was a Bernie command?

Re: Joe's teeth
Joe produced The Little Roosters single "I Need A Witness" in late 1980. He also produced the bulk of their album (same session) which wasn't realeased until early 1981. So at a guess I would say Joe used the money for dental work somewhere between Nov '80 - Jan '81.
Check out Garrie Lammin's front tooth blacked out. A nod to Joe I reckon.
I must say I prefer Cock Sparrer's version.

Re: Joe's teeth
Unreleated to Joe but a little intriguing The Little Roosters live album from 1983 with Alison Moyet on vocals?

Re: Joe's teeth
Cliff Cooper founder of ORANGE amps was the manger of the Little Roosters. He cut a deal with Joe after persuading him to get his teeth sorted with Cliff's Australian dentist Doctor Newbury in Harley street London.
Joe really didn't want to go, but Cliff persuaded him. Joe had been losing a lot of weight, possibly due to his bad and decaying teeth.
Cliff paid for the treatment and Joe in return refused to accept any payment for producing the Little Roosters album. Joe loved the Little Roosters music and especially the cheeky young cockney singer and guitarist Gary Lammin .
