Megadittoes, Rush! Keep up the good work! ;)
I took it as him being stoked about the cultural diversity in London, rather than a brag about how diverse he is personally.
I just comes across as really cheesy to me. "I love diversity! Look at how much I love it! I love all cultures and styles. My mind is so open!"
It isn't about Joe at all just the area he lives and what food and music are in the general culture. No bragging taking place just a neat tune, but hey each to their own.

I think you have it wrong it isn't about Joe it is about changing London. He meets a guy from New Zealand (apparently based on a true story) which is significant because he is on the traditional 'OE' from the colonies and is looking for stereotypical London. Joe is trying to explain that those days are gone and London has moved on.

I think it's a great, fun, joyous, toe-tappin' tune.

You're right, but we never really have had mushy peas in the South, everywhere north of Watford seems to, can we have another survey?

The guy is from New Zealand he is looking for the England he has heard about from his parents / grandparents and from watching Coronation Street. He presumes everyone wears a cloth cap and braces and eats mushy peas  .

This is exactly how I've always received the song, and I'm a Yank. Plus Joe's rapid fire rapping of all the foods and musics is highly infectious; great vocal on this.

And Bhindi Bhagee is the only song I know of with the words "Waccy Baccy" in the lyrics.
