I think you have it wrong it isn't about Joe it is about changing London. He meets a guy from New Zealand (apparently based on a true story) which is significant because he is on the traditional 'OE' from the colonies and is looking for stereotypical London. Joe is trying to explain that those days are gone and London has moved on.matedog wrote:I just comes across as really cheesy to me. "I love diversity! Look at how much I love it! You're right, but we never really have had mushy peas in the South, everywhere north of Watford seems to, can we have another survey?101Walterton wrote:I think you have it wrong it isn't about Joe it is about changing London. The guy is from New Zealand he is looking for the England he has heard about from his parents / grandparents and from watching Coronation Street. He presumes everyone wears a cloth cap and braces and eats mushy peas .Purple Hayes wrote:You're right, but we never really have had mushy peas in the South, everywhere north of Watford seems to, can we have another survey?101Walterton wrote:I think you have it wrong it isn't about Joe it is about changing London. This is exactly how I've always received the song, and I'm a Yank. Plus Joe's rapid fire rapping of all the foods and musics is highly infectious; great vocal on this.101Walterton wrote:I think you have it wrong it isn't about Joe it is about changing London. And Bhindi Bhagee is the only song I know of with the words "Waccy Baccy" in the lyrics.
