Thanks Marky!

Here's Paper Magazine description of the old 1018. Sounds like the perfect venue for BAD.

1018 (515 W. 18th Street)
In the late '80s, the old skating club the Roxy became 1018, an R&B flavored concert venue/dance club, though I also managed to catch pasty white singer Rick Astley in a promotional appearance there. They had name brand DJs and featured shows by freestyle performers and LaToya Jackson. Eventually, it became the Roxy again, where big-chested gays and drag queens made a weekly thump-thump shrine to themselves on Saturday nights. And I must say that was my favorite incarnation of the place.

Cheers Marky, I look forward to listening to this. Were they a 5 piece right from the start? The pictures on the cover of the first album always confuse me, just showing 4.

To be honest I don't know either if he was playing at this first gig but I couldn't find any info to the contrary. I know Dan is on the first album (keyboards) and the reason he isn't on the sleeve is simply because he is the photographer.

As I understand it, Dan didn't join til later when he took the shots for the album cover. Not actually sure when the pics were taken though, as Mick still has his long hair on the album cover. It was shorn for the Bottom Line video.

I would very much assume they were a four piece for this gig.

Marky, where did you get the date of 6/10/84 from for this gig? According to Esmark's site it took place on 1/2/84, which tallies up with the Alarm playing in Glasgow. Just been doing some research on this gig, and according to the Alarm's official website and setlist.com it actually took place at the Penthouse in Glasgow rather than Nightmoves. The Penthouse was the smaller venue above the Glasgow Apollo. I even found a flyer for the February gigs in 1984 at Nightmoves and there is no gig at all on 1/2/84...

Edit: Just checked Esmark's site and he has the 1/2/84 date for this gig in the "gigs" section and 6/10/84 for it in the "boots" section, so a bit confusing. But by the evidence available it looks like it took place on the former.

Nice one... never thought about it, and I certainly have no idea wich is he correct date...or venue. Got the show cd-r from someone on the old bad.co.uk forum with the 06.10.84 date. The gigs list is compiled from various sources; the old BAD site, band members, crew, flyer, tour posters etc. Seem to recall that the first gigs took place in support for The Alarm. Mike Peters told me (chatted with him for a while in '16 after a solo gig here in Norway) that he remembered those gigs and that BAD where brilliant! So... venue and date.. have no idea....
