So I'm thinking the 'Where I was born' verse is driving directions:

Where I was born, I turned before the scrapheap
I crossed the steel like a dab of vaseline
Head up to the North, ?????

I'm agreeing with Marky now that the line is 'I got a pulse' What about:
'I got a pulse been insane half my lifetime'?
