The theme for the upcoming S! 33 1/3 has been done to death. I was really hoping for a more unique angle on it.

Now THERE'S a book chatgpt could write if we fed them the IMCT archives.

I'd rather we all wrote it together. It would be a real bonding experience and possibly the end of IMCT, just as it was the end of the Clash.Flex wrote: ↑10 Jan 2024, 2:56pm"How did each track on S! further the Clash's betrayals of their fans and pave the way for their eventual perfect triumph as Clash II when they became Real Rock and Rollers"Kory wrote: ↑10 Jan 2024, 2:11pmhttps://www.bloomsbury.com/us/the-clash ... 501390364/

It’s a conceit, but I think the archives here could break AI by making it an ouroboros.Flex wrote: ↑10 Jan 2024, 2:56pm"How did each track on S! further the Clash's betrayals of their fans and pave the way for their eventual perfect triumph as Clash II when they became Real Rock and Rollers"Kory wrote: ↑10 Jan 2024, 2:11pmhttps://www.bloomsbury.com/us/the-clash ... 501390364/

Re: The Clash observations thread. Sun Plaza Setlist
Hi. New here from New Zealand.
I was on youtube and saw an upload for the Live At Sun Plaza, Tokyo, Japan, February 1, 1982 clip, and recognised a familiar image. The setlist that is featured on there and on the "Clash Observations" thread used to be owned by me. I carried that piece of paper and another (possibly Mick Jones) around with me in an envelope with my worldly goods from when I was around 16 years old and sold it on to a memorabilia buyer a few years back. I was given the two setlists by a local legend who ran a secondhand music store for years in my town New Plymouth in NZ. His name is Brian Wafer and the shop was called IMA Hitt records. He sold me most of the records that became my bedrock and gave me those setlists one day in an envelope and I kept them for about 30 odd years before I decided they needed to be passed on.
Wow! So cool to see that they are being appreciated by many around the world after the journeys they have been on with me for so long!
Still love the Clash and just had to post something regarding these "close to my heart" pieces of history...

I tried (and failed again) to get into Spirit of St. Louis but found out they made a video for Shuttered Palace:
Not much interesting, but is that Kosmo Vinyl at around 2:38? Who is the other dude? Basically I'm trying to find signs of The Clash anywhere in her work.

Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Yes it's Kosmo and I think the other guy is Digby Cleaver who was a guitar tech.matedog wrote: ↑22 Feb 2024, 12:30pmI tried (and failed again) to get into Spirit of St. Louis but found out they made a video for Shuttered Palace:

The scene where the car pulls up looks like it's Pindock Mews where Sid and Nancy lived and then Tony James took over and then Topper.

Does anyone have scans of the first 2 songbooks? (Or PDFs)

Thanks man, here's the debut btw
(Clash talk starts at 8:15)
And here's the latest hot off the presses (sorta) on Sandinista:
(Clash talk starts approx. 31:15)
I re-listened to some of this. James is a genius. I still can't get over that I sound like that. And say the things I say. Still, a good listen.

I want to know what Clash songs are best suited to grocery stores and gas stations. "Lost in the Supermarket" won't help you find that tin of beans you are looking for.
