No, he was trying to one-up the BAD sound and it got caught in the Bernie blender

Maybe, but he probably didn't realize it at the time.

EET Week Poll

Post by IkarisOne »

Since we have much better documentation of what a total clusterfuck the situation was from June 1984 on, I think this question needs to be asked.

Answer #3 seems most likely. He seemed pretty mentally disconnected at the time from the realities of what was going on (from what I've read, anyway).

Of course, it's probably a little bit of all of the above too.

Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a rolling hoop
Wiggle, wiggle, wiggle like a ton of lead
Wiggle - you can raise the dead

I picked 3, using the same logic.

I went with three but I think there was a dash of number two in there too. In fact, I think that would have been a better name for the record, A Dash of #2!

Joe is an interesting psychological study. I think his subconscious certainly pushed him to do things and I don't think he was very aware of himself in that way. I love Joe but he was a deeply flawed and pitiable man. If he was asked he probably would have said that he was just trying to equal or one-up Mick. I think the truth is that he realized that his and MIck's egos killed the band and CtC was a sort of suicide move.

Question: Were there any MTV videos made for CtC singles?

Vince mentioned him, Nick and Pete being filmed by Kosmo for the TIE video but obviously nothing came of that. Without Paul and Joe, I don't know what they were hoping to do with the video.
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

The thing that really disallows me to feel pity for Joe - besides the fact that he really didn't need it the way it all ultimately worked out for him - is his disloyalty and ruthlessness. He hurt a lot of people, especially people who helped him. Not the least of which were Mick and Topper (though Topper is the first to admit he deserved whatever he got).

I think it was 2. I believe they had one eye on what Mick was doing and one eye on the charts. They fell between the two and I think what was left just wasn't Joe's music, he didn't know what or want to do anything with it and he abandoned ship leaving Bernie to do whatever.

It's a celebration of Cut the Crap. The "eet" refers to "the Piranha got eet" line from Play to Win.

Ahh, makes sense.

Wait, there are lyrics to Play to Win?
