So I knew BAD's Wind Me Up was more or less (more actually) a cover of To Whom it May Concern by DJ Hollywood. I didn't know that Hollywood sampled Bootzilla for his song, and I sure didn't know Bootsy sampled his own song for a late 90's song called... Wind Me Up. The circle goes 'round.

Better known as poontang due to bootlegs naming it wrongly
what is the story behind this one Teddy was it just planned to be covered live for a short spell or did it have some greater plan for recording in the studio like US North
Great song made with that very BAD sound

They did record Wind Me Up in the first album sessions, as well as Keep Off the Grass (aka the theme from Bonanza). I suspect they were left off the deluxe reissue due to complicating the publishing formula, as both are essentially covers. As for the song's title, judging by YouTube, some people still refer to Hollywood's song as "Oom Tang" or "Umtang" and, weirdly enough, he did a whole version of To Whom it May Concern without the Wind Me Up/Poontang rap . Here's a link to the correct version as done by DJ Hollywood.
Here is Bad performing Wind me up live . This is not new footage but i cant remember if the full 45 minute footage of this Brazil gig has been shown before?
Holy Moly! Thanks for sharing that Rio de Janeiro show. I've never seen a second of that footage. This has made my night. Mick and the band look and sound superb!
I've always been confused why Keep off the Grass was aka the theme from Bonanza when it's not? It's the theme from the Magnificent Seven?

My earliest recollection of the naming of this song as Bonanza was from the bootleg that came out soon after so i feel its similar reason to poontang . I havent listened to the bootleg so did Mick announce this as Bonanza theme tune ?

Yes he did. Maybe it was one of his subtle jokes.

Mick references D.J. Hollywood, but I'm thinking BAD's WInd Me Up (aka Poontang) may owe more to Busy Bee's version from 1982. The riff and basics were there in the original but Busy pushes the Poontang angle.
