I've got the Gift on now. Man, Ghosts is such a great song.

Recently re bought it on vinyl as for some reason don't have original copy. Solid album with some great tracks. Carnation?

On now. It is a great song but I think it just outstays its welcome by a minute or so.

Running On the Spot blew me away all over again, could have been written today.

Yep, still gets to me after all these years. And 'Ghosts' is haunting and heartbreaking. Great, great album. Damn but Weller could write 'em back then (Foxton wasn't too shabby either).

Hello,

Town Called Malice was one of the best singles and one of the first to get noticed here in the States back in the day (as the kids say) - "Stop dreaming of the quiet life 'cause it's the one we'll never know ... To either cut down on beer or the kids' new gear...". I liked The Gift as a single track as well - "Move, move, I got the gift of life...".

I've always loved Sound Affects and The Gift along with Beat Surrender ep, I also really dig the first 2 albums, I like the raw sonic quality to them. AMC and SS I haven't listened to in years, they are classics but don't hold much appeal to me anymore

The ones you don't listen to are the two best albums for me.

I find the first two albums lacking in places. You can get one good album out of the two of them, Modern World is marginally better for me, despite its status as their weakest album.

I bought SS and AMC when they came out and listened to them constantly, no doubt they are classics but for some reason I don't go back to them, maybe over exposure, I was a huge Jam fan when I was in my teens. I'll give em another spin, decide they are great but not sure if it will be on regular rotation.

I do go back to Sound Affects up to the end and still enjoy them immensely. Some class writing and playing there.

If I'm correct I remember them re-releasing all their singles at the same time

Yes I remember them releasing all their singles at once.
AMC then SS for me. Still listen to both regularly.

Setting Sons and All Mod Cons for me, in that order. (with attendant singles)

SA is super consistent, but doesn't hit me the way those two do. It comes next.

Then, I actually like This is the Modern World next, followed closely by In the City.

The Gift is all right, but other than the high points, it doesn't do much for me.

None of the albums are bad, I want to be clear. Even mediocre Jam is still imminently listenable.

My least favourite Jam album is still great.
