I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, forget pacifism. These kids deserve a beating.

I’ve come close to unfriending a handful of “friends” on Facebook over this video. The second there was any ambiguity about it – they jumped on it and attacked the “liberal” media for rushing to judge these kids. The effort they put into finding ways to justify their idiotic beliefs is amazing. How does it not get exhausting? It’s like “I’m not really racist…even though I don’t like (insert a group of people here)”. This was just such a great example because it really put the light on their (Trump and his followers) terrible beliefs – and despite what they might claim about this particular video – intolerance is part of their deal. The part that really gets me is that while the initial public take on the video highlighted their beliefs – they were so quick to push back the moment they could find a way to counter the narrative. I just think whenever someone gets that defensive about something – maybe it’s time to look in the mirror.

The idea that wearing a MAGA hat isn't signaling xenophobia and white solidarity/bigotry is utterly laughable. Nobody is being fooled. The MAGA chuds know what it means and everyone else knows what it means. You're making a deliberate choice to wear that hat, especially to a rally surrounded by others wearing that hat. But it is also consistent with their "I'm the real victim here" self-pity.

Yup. The choice to wear that hat is a conscious choice to make a very pointed statement.

I've heard a lot of people claim that Phillips, the native in the video, does this at rallies and has an agenda. Yet MAGgots don't want to believe that wearing that hat is its own agenda. (not sure if that came out right. lol)

Bad people have agendas; good people are just living out the Constitution.

What's worse Trump staying on or Pence taking over?
Trump staying. Pence may have some strange ideas/ways, but at least he's not a loose cannon with an IQ of an idiot. He still scares me, but I'd take him any day over that fucktard.

Pence has no charisma and no cult of personality to speak of. And if he represented continuity from a disgraced and removed president, he’d basically be Gerald Ford.

Not too long ago, in a conversation with a lesbian couple, I said that Pence would be preferable to Trump. They were aghast. Don't you know Pence's views about homosexuality? Um, I'm not declaring Pence to be in any way good, just less awful overall than Trump.

I think people just haven't really mentally updated their calculus that was popular immediately post-election about whether Pence was "worse" and their was a plausible case to be made there: if Trump, like, immediately decided to step down because someone told him he "won the presidency" and could go home or w/e, Pence - who at that time had public positions that were mostly to the right of Trump - would take over with credibility basically intact and "normal" party operations basically in place. In the intervening time, obviously, Trump has remade the party in his image and has functioned as the worst of all worlds, policy wise. Wolter is right that, at this point, a Pence takeover would be about assuming office under some sort of national disgrace and with a Republic party that's steadily moved away from Pence. Does that mean he couldn't do damage No, but I think we can guess he'd be stymied by the conditions under which he takes power. That seems more attractive than Trump.

There was an interesting piece in, I think, the Washington Post the other day by a law prof who argued, in a law prof wonky way, that if Trump were impeached over actions that got him elected, Pence could/should also be impeached as he also was elevated by the same crime and certainly shouldn't be rewarded. It makes sense in the abstract, certainly, but the politics of it all, especially meaning Pelosi would become president, would never allow it.

SO these little shits were wandering around the Capital Mall in DC calling women sluts and chanting "MAGA" and "Build the wall". Hours later they were harassing Native Americans who had a march that day. Naturally, Trump has invited these little pricks to the White House.
