First black MLB pitcher, I think. That means only Willie Mays is left from The Shot Heard Around the World game.

Like the Beatles, they're down to the drummer and the most talented one. Typical copycats.

RIP Peter - I hate how people still deride the Monkees.

George was the best one, not the most talented. Now, please, Inder, let the hostages go!

I had a co-worker/friend who loved loved loved the Monkees to such a degree that I went out of my way to bring up every lazy criticism about them just to see her rage.

It's definitely a generational thing. I grew up unable to distinguish the quality of the Monkees from any other good-to-great 60s pop/rock group, so the idea that their was something wrong/different about them never entered my head as a kid. The critique I eventually heard of the Monkees was mildly baffling to me.

Peter was weird and cool. RIP.

Was he the buzzkill or was that Nesmith?
Look, you have to establish context for these things. And I maintain that unless you appreciate the Fall of Constantinople, the Great Fire of London, and Mickey Mantle's fatalist alcoholism, live Freddy makes no sense. If you want to half-ass it, fine, go call Simon Schama to do the appendix.

Paul is the drummer in this scenario, right?
