This was the night I got backstage and met Joe. Strangely I recall little about the gig but that meeting is etched in my memory.

Thanks for this.
was this the one with Ten Benson supporting?

they were one of the worst support acts I've ever seen.

The Moon Turned Around And Shot Someone: Joe Strummer After The Clash

Great article about Joe's solo career in the latest Hot Press. (I guess it's nominally a review of Assembly, but it's more than that.)

Video Killed the Radio Star

Apologies if already posted, but just watched decent little programme about Joe. Focused mainly on his time with the Pogues and the filming of STH. Good interviews with Frank Murray and Shane.

Sky Arts obviously, available on catch up (s5, ep 7)

Re: New Youtube BAD

Isn’t Mick wonderfully polite in and after the interview? Lovely to see. It was back in the day it was the done thing to be seen to be polite and/or intelligent. These days it's a badge of honour to be seen to be thick. Agreed, but I think maybe only a few years earlier he had the aloof rock star i...

Re: Keith Levene's "I Was a Teen Guitarist 4 the Clash!"

Just finished reading the e-book. It's a poor effort tbh, from claiming all the credit for persuading Joe to join the band, to implying Mick hated him because he was a better guitarist, a lot of it just doesn't ring true. fortunately it didn't waste too much of my time, must had read it in less than...

Re: Guardian - 40 Greatest Songs ranked

The Call Up at number 7? That's mental.

Not even the 7th best track on Sandinista - more like 17th imo. It's a bit of a dirge to be honest, poor choice for a single.

Re: Who's been to the exhibition then?

Went along on Friday. Got there for it opening at 10am, and it was pretty quiet. What was there was great to see, but truth be told, there's not a lot to it. 45 minutes is all you need really. Best bit for me was the old 4-track TEAC which you could play about with. It had the vocals, guitar, bass a...

loved Topper's story about sitting in the tour bus in NY, listening to the final mix for the first time, going "Wow".

Who's been to the exhibition then?

Have read a few negative comments on FB, some saying there's not much to see (compared to The Jam exhibition at Somerset House a few years ago), and some saying it gets extremely busy. Am heading down to London for a couple of days over the holidays, and was going to drag the missus along to this, b...

Re: Two Degrees of Separation

I’ve got wind of a rumor that if the stars stay aligned, Mick will be quite soon going into the studio, producing an album for Subway Sect. According to Kris Needs, he's already produced it - Kris Needs Yesterday at 12:48 AM · Last night at the exhibition launch Mick invited me to hear the album he...
