Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

A (possibly) interesting argument to be had: Which decade's dreck (of the rock era) is the worst? I am intrigued if we compare 85-89 vs 96-00. Five year segments seem to represent full movements more tightly than whole decades. I think hair metal and nu metal would largely cancel each other out and...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

A (possibly) interesting argument to be had: Which decade's dreck (of the rock era) is the worst? It's definitely one that can't be won because it's very hard to really agree on what's the absolute worst flavor of feces. Less about winning or losing than exploring people's criteria for awful or wha...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Creed’s album went platinum 11x. That is stunning. Appalling. Stunpalling. I dont understand how it is possible. Seriously. I would have thought one of the ones Marky listed would have been bigger. Stone Temple Pilots Rage Against The Machine Soundgarden Pearl Jam Those bands all put up huge number...

Ha! But could Kosmo do a compelling Joni?
I think he'd be too busy with kung fu in that parking lot. ;)

Re: Post your own music

Here's those five finished tracks Marky. I've also put up a rough cut of a track we've been working on this week called "Friday Night City Ghosts" which is kind of my lockdown song. Everyone else is doing it so I thought, why not? Hope you enjoy them mate. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSff-ZjB5V...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread

Judging solely by the number of people about 5-10 years younger than me talking about the music they loved in their teens? Korn was massive. Again, anecdotal. Second anecdotal: I worked at a downtown Charleston convenience store from roughly 1995-2001. I saw a lot of 15 year olds in Korn shirts tow...

Marilyn Manson
Stone Temple Pilots
Rage Against The Machine
Soundgarden
Pearl Jam

Were all pretty big acts in and around '96.

Hadn't heard this for ages til it came on the radio today. A good pop song, I think I like it more than I did back then...

Hmmm probably his worst single for me.

Re: Heston and Marky's Friday Top 5

Not gonna lie: I hardly ever check this thread anymore. Once we'd done all the classic artists it was gonna be a struggle to keep it going but I think Marky has done a good job with the album format etc. But we only have time to read so many threads, there's loads on here I've never even clicked on...

https://i.redd.it/7fl1seju8ru51.jpg So he's not a deplorable? I like the idea that it's in a frame. To really show it off as art. It's not in a frame it's just attached to a door if you look closely. Which means it could fall down at any time. ;) Oh god, you're right. That's fabric taped up in a wi...
