Re: Holidays Vacations, who takes them and where?

How inured are Floridians to all this? Yes, hurricanes have always been a fact of life, but they are increasing in frequency and severity. Are people just accepting or adapting or could you detect a, I don't know, greater tension about it all than when you grew up? When I was living in Florida in t...

Re: Holidays Vacations, who takes them and where?

Just got back from a long weekend at the beach in Clearwater Florida, they just had a storm pass through, missed them but they were on the "dirty side" of it and it was horrible. I felt like I was in the "cheap holiday in other people's misery" mode. It was painful to see peoples lives just as garb...

Re: The Kaleb Horton Deceased Latvian Foreign Minister Thread, 2024 Edition

John Amos, who was the father on Good Times and the older Kunte Kinte in Roots . Very much one of those actors who was all over 70s tv. Loved him in Good Times. One of the best TV dads, ever. I believe he left the show because Jimmy Walker was getting too much "funny" time with his Dyno-Mite! and t...

Re: Murder or Not

My wife and I have a plan for our final days Is this an oral agreement/understanding or have you drawn up papers? We haven't drawn up papers but we have an agreement and AFAIK we are going to stick to it. I've had a fantastic life full of wonder and no regrets. I'm not afraid to go, kinda curious w...

Re: The Gen X Thread: Older, Fatter, Still Alienated

Hey, just a quick reminder for you older folks: go get your skin checked by a dermatologist. I had two spots on my arm, biopsied, both benign, thank goodness. But, for reals, it's quick and painless. I worked on boats most of my life and had melanonoma, same as Bob Marley, under my fingernail. They...

Re: So what's your concert schedule looking like?

Saw Love & Rockets last night and they were amazing! I thought they were great last year but they were even better this year. Along with them were the headliners Jane's Addiction. Now I love JA, seen them at least a dozen times since 1987, actually with L&R cept L&R were headliners then. The band JA...
