Maj and muppet argue whether Keith Richards sucks: https://clashcity.com/boards/viewtopic.php?p=491086#p491086 I was pretty clear eyed in there, good arguing. Even tho that discussion is only a couple years old, I have zero recollection, even in re-reading what I contributed, of it. I would reitera...

Re: Back to The Clash - Who has seen them and when?

I never got to see them with Mick Jones but I did see them in Orlando in 1984 on the Mohawk Revenge tour. I've also seen Joe in 89 maybe at the Palladium in NYC and then many times in 99-2002. Any thoughts on the shows? I got into the band casually in 2000, so I never got to see Strummer, but I did...

Re: Back to The Clash - Who has seen them and when?

Was attending rock gigs regularly from about late 80/early 81 but clash didn't come my way until 84 so never got to see them with Mick. Consolation prize was pretty good, though!

Re: The Years Ago thread

I don't usually get upset at celeb and rich people deaths, I mean not really genuinely upset, if I liked them it's usually a good pretext to remember and honor their works. But Bowie gutted me in a personal way that really only Joe has done so far. I imagine only Dylan's passing will affect me simi...

Re: The Great Thread of YouTube Magnificence!

By chance this band came across the radar today. I'm familiar with and really liked the Woody Guthrie stuff with Billy Bragg, but never did any deeper dive. This is good, though.

Re: Walker Alternates & Outtakes

Thanks for this MD, always been a fan of Walker so this is a treat. Wonder what Mr Martin would make of that S! reference now, suspect he'd repent even a little. That line too about Joe composing every note, often wondered about that, think he maybe just sketched the outline of the tunes and the mus...

Re: Heston and Marky's Friday Top 5

Read this piece in the Sunday Times a few weeks back. It's paywalled anyway, but jist of it is it was 20 years since the release of All That You Can't Leave Behind and this critic reckoned that's when they took the wrong turn, abandoned the adventurism of the 80s and 90s to play it safe instead. I m...
