Re: A Packet of Threes (New, New Challenge Thread)

Bam Bam - Villians Also Wear White My word... it's structured, but also chaotic. It has an Ace-of-Spades vibe but is also different. I've listened to this many times now. A great start. Taqbir - Sma3 This one grabs me and doesn't let go but I'm not sure I really like it or whether it's pummeling me ...

Never happen. They're all basic "blues" fans.
If you like authentic blues you really gotta check out Blues Hammer. They're so great.

Re: A Packet of Threes (New, New Challenge Thread)

Thick - never heard of them. I find the song a little schizophrenic. I like the music and the singing in the verses, not too fond of the singing in the chorus but I think that's because I like the verse so much. I think I'd like both if they were different vocal tracks to the same song though. I gue...

Re: Free BAD 2 Live download

Is that a fairly recent re-issue? I wonder why they chose that... RSD or something? Is it still only 5 tracks? Yeah 2018 RSD I think...I missed it but saw it for 8.99 on eBay and was not disappointed, mixed by Mick. Sounds wicked. If you download please leave a comment so anyone else interested kno...

Kendrick Lamar is great.
I tried to like To Pimp a Butterfly but couldn't get into it. King Kunta is probably my favourite rap song of the last 10 years though.

Re: "I said-a hip, hop, the hippie, the hippie" - The Hip Hop Thread

My top few would be 1) Public Enemy (especially the first 3 albums) 2) Ice-T 3) Ice Cube 4) Beastie Boys 5) Kool Keith 6) Eric B and Rakim 7) EPMD 8) BDP Some of the early 90s lyrics can be, shall we say, problematic but I can compartmentalize it. There's something very hypnotic about a repeated loo...

Re: Bands Whos Later Stuff You Prefer

Of The Smiths real albums, this order is pretty solid for me.

Strangeways Here We Come (1987)
The Queen is Dead (1986)
Meat is Murder (1985)
The Smiths (1984)

Not sure this really counts as 'later stuff' since it's only 4 years between the first and last

My Dad, the Red Nosed Burglar on stage with Ivor Biggun. I think this one was taken at The Nashville in West Kensington around 1980.

Re: Combat Rock 40th anniversary reissue coming soon?

I was in Target today and a ton of albums were on clearance including the red vinyl edition of CR for $11. I considered buying a second copy but didn't. So if anyone is interested, it might be worth taking a look. Wow, nice find, great price too. Unfortunately I can't find it here in So Cal or Targ...
