Matedog you can add Steve Nieve : keyboards to the list of studio musicians on "City of the Dead".
Added and I'll pick up that book as well. I hadn't heard of it.
New to me too.

Re: Mojo magazine Punk Icons

Thanks again for all these details! I’ve only been a fan for about a year now and I’m sure most of the articles/photos would be new to me so I’ll go ahead and order. The site is saying minimum 8 weeks for shipping so I’ll probably forget I ordered it and then get a nice surprise this spring :mrgree...

Re: Mojo magazine Punk Icons

Thanks for the review! Looks like it’s about $22 to ship to the US- do you think it’s worth it at that price tag? I already own a few books but I’d assume this would have better pictures/graphics/etc. $22 shipping seems a lot, although it is a fairly chunky magazine (132 pages) plus outer card jack...

Thank you Inder for keeping the boiler well stoked up all this time… 20 years… I think I joined just after Joe’s passing in 2002 or early 2003 so I don’t quite qualify for the old boys’ tie, but I remember that distant land of trading bootlegs by mail and the novelty of DVD-Rs… (pauses to polish ros...

Re: Mojo magazine Punk Icons

I sort of rolled my eyes when I saw this advertised online - Mojo, Uncut and co have done Clash specials before, I thought, is this aimed at new fans, what could there possibly be new to tell, etc etc. But when I was (not lost) in the supermarket and saw a copy on the racks, I couldn't resist. Price...

Re: First Songs You Remember Hearing

Three songs that became embedded in my memory bank when I was about 3, purely from radio play (If I hear them even now it triggers some sort of primeval memory response, unlike any other music of the same vintage): Penny Lane (Beatles) These Boots Were Made For Walking (Nancy Sinatra) Cinderella Roc...

Re: The Punk Road to Damascus

I'm belatedly chipping in here - I've been lurking for a while but not posting, partly due to rushing round sorting out Christmas stuff, partly cos I've been away from my laptop for 2 weeks and I prefer posting on there to using my phone (holed up at my Mum's where I was on a pre-Xmas visit and I te...

I knew Mensi personally and he asked my band to play his 60th birthday party a few years back which was a total honour. Had been a fan since I was 14. Gutted is an understatement.
I didn’t realise you knew him that well, Heston- condolences pal

Re: December 1st 1976 ...tea time!

Someone here (Marky seems a good bet) told me about this. Funny and detailed reenactment. Well worth your 20 mins. https://youtu.be/w3tqbmGjqOI?t=1 Cheers Doc - I'd forgotten about this. Good fun, well cast and I'd forgotten how funny Freddie Mercury was, played by Kayvan Novak (Nandor in What We D...
