Re: The Famous Recording Studios Thread

I was in London a few weeks back and had to go and see this place when I was in Whitechapel. Would you believe this was the poky little building where the mighty Complete Control was recorded? This used to be Sarm East, and the vocals for Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody were also recorded here. sarm east...

Re: The Kaleb Horton Deceased Latvian Foreign Minister Thread, 2022 Edition

Wilko for me was one of the finest guitarists of all time. His style is incredible and I'll forever be proud to have seen him play 4 or 5 times. Last time was May at bearded theory, he was one of the highlights for me. Met him backstage at Norwich about 5 years ago and he was an absolute gent. In 2...

Some warts-n-all insights into Wilko here from Jim Driver, music promoter who worked with and sort of managed Wilko for many years.

RIP Wilko! A bit of a shock- he was scheduled to be gigging in the New Year, I have a ticket to see him at the 100 Club.

I wonder why they dropped the "H".

FC Shakhtar Donetsk.
Maybe to avoid copyright infringement- which is perhaps why we had ‘Koka Kola’ on LC?
Footy Clubs being very protective of their brand, merchandise rights etc etc

Re: Happy Birthday JohnS!

Thanks again folks. Just back from a gig - Nick Lowe - suitable for my demographic of course  , but by jingo, he is superb live. Just him solo with acoustic guitar, but his songs, and patter, had the place spellbound. New stuff, and old classics - sometimes rearranged, but none the worse fo...

Re: Happy Birthday JohnS!

Thank you kindly, peoploids, for your wishes! Yes, another orbit around the sun and I'm none the wiser. But I'm on a lucky streak today - I went for a swim at my local leisure centre, and found two (TWO!) 20p coins left behind in the coin-operated lockers! Now if someone could compile some sort of c...

I penned a tribute to the man on the SHRR blog. Check it out: https://secrethistoryofrock.blogspot.co ... never.html
A great read, improved and enhanced even more by some excellent musical selections. Thanks for sharing CK.

Re: Bob Dylan on London Calling

I had no idea there was an audio-book version of this, and with material from Bob himself! I can imagine it's a lot of fun, it must be the best way to access his prose. Dylan's sly humour is often masked when you just read him in interviews and the like. The one issue I have with Dylan's spoken par...

Re: Don't give me polyp chilld!

Just took the call from a nurse. And the news is good. All clear. One hyperplastic polyp that's benign. The other 7 polyps were adenoma's but they are also clear from cancer. So it's another colonoscopy in 3 years time. Thanks for all the support guys appreciated. This is great to hear! I have been...
