Re: Save the Date: EET Week 2021

I truly believe Are You Ready on CTC, while not necessarily an "upgrade" over the live version, works better with the Bernie arrangement as a studio track . That live arrangement is pretty damn sparse, which works with an audience present, but I don't know how that would have translated in studio. T...

Re: Boots Galore - The Clash MEGALIST (reloaded)

Are those "new" soundboards from Bond's 6/8+6/9 still available or are they down on purpose?

Re: Westway to the World reboot coming in 2021?

Sandinista came with about 3 sides of bonus tracks on the original release, don't see how a anniversary set would add much ;)

Re: The Clash observations thread.

This snippet of Street Parade from Barcelona '81 is magical. They sound wild here, like Barrett-era Floyd or something. Wish they had played this song more, its always been in my top 3 Clash tracks. Part of me wishes it were more heralded in the Clash canon but I kind of like it being a sleeper. May...

Re: BBC archive unseen Strummer itw

Joe doing the thumbs up while the presenter introduces him as someone "who didn't go to the Royal College of Art" really made me laugh

Re: The Clash observations thread.

I know Vince made up a lot of shit in that book, but if Paul's pepperoni sticks are a lie that's one bridge too far for me.

Re: The Clash observations thread.

Hands down the greatest anecdote in Vince White's insane book was...Paul hiding pepperoni sticks in his guitar case as his "emergency food supply" before heading out on the busking tour. God dammit that image made me laugh, a punk James Dean look alike wandering around Britain with a guitar case ful...

Re: The Clash observations thread.

I was listening to the US Fest show recently (borderline masochistic given that the Tuscon show is *right there* for me to listen to instead) and I never really noticed before how bad Mick's guitar sounds on that show, particularly with that Bond guitar he used in the first half of the set. Very shr...

Re: Synths/Drum Machines used by the Clash

Interesting! That makes sense though, the Cool Confusion synth parts definitely sound the least guitar synth-like to me so it stands to reason that could be the drum synth. Fulham really sounds like an old keyboard synth on a horn setting to me so I'd agree with you there as well. Didn't realize Mi...

Re: Synths/Drum Machines used by the Clash

Do we know if the lead synth lines on Sean Flynn, Idle In Kangaroo Court & Cool Confusion are a guitar synth or a keyboard synth? I know Mick had used the Roland SPV & the GR707 guitar synths but the meter of those synth lines don't sound like something you'd play on guitar. The drones on STH, Atom...

Re: Rat Patrol 2LP acetate

The highlight of the Rat Patrol KYR is "Smaaasshh!" I do like that. My favourite moment is the synth (mellotron?) at the end of Death Is a Star. Was never a fan of the song before but this mix has converted me. Strangely, I think my favorite RP moment might be the rhythmic rumbles toward the end of...
