Burning Lights/I Hired a Contract Killer easter egg?

I would not bet my life on it (and I am not a "forensics document examiner"), but the handwriting on the chalkboard looks like Joe's to me. Less flair than what he would do with a pen, but if the bar is advertising Desmond Dekker night, it seems like a Joe-thing to do (especially with Elvis over his...

Re: Boots Galore - The Request Line

Does anyone have Edinburgh Playhouse 1982. Not sure I've heard it but it gets a good review on BMC for sound and performance. Thanks in advance if anyone has it. "Baby, Let's Play House": https://mega.nz/folder/NrpXxAab#2AsvHqOnwREGqvvcXYEuNw This does have Car Jamming, but I'm not sure whether it'...

Great cover of Police and Thieves

Never seen anyone mention this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h7kqAN7qjPs Funnily enough, her version seems to be based not on Junior Murvin or the Clash, but a cover by somebody named J Boog. I've been working on what/how she plays it with my guitar teacher (of Rudie Can't Fail fame, if you've ev...

Re: Manchester 1984 upgrade?

Brickwalling means the volume levels have been boosted so there are no peaks and valleys - if you look at the recording in an audio program, it's one uniform fat line (ie, a brickwall). A lot of the shows on the mega list were brickwalled, but whether this happened during the transfer to digital or ...

Re: Manchester 1984 upgrade?

This seems to better than the MP3 version: https://mega.nz/folder/EiJjWSAS#fIPPAy4v7SBoqKzOP_6HNw It's louder anyway. I think it's lossless...seems to cap out around 19k HZ. The info file does not mention the gen, so not sure if it's the master or 1st gen or blend BMC mentions, or some n-generation ...

Re: Boots Galore - The Request Line

Appreciate the upload and I haven't played it yet. But it looks like the same version I have finishing with "White Riot" and missing the last three tracks. Ah, sorry...did not think to check once I saw I had it in lossless. This might be one of those shows only Graham has, but I'll look to see if I...

No one got the Harlesden gig?
Took me a while to find! Looking forward to hearing what you can do with it, Marky.

Re: Clash - Amsterdam 1981 FM+AUD matrix version

NiteOwl showed an impressive Marky-esque attention to detail in getting this right. A few things I would underscore: The subtle shifting of the guitar to the left channel on the audience-only portions really makes the show sound seamless. You can hear how bad the warble on the audience tape was in t...

Re: Dog in a Satellite lyrics?

Is the master you mention the same demo recording with vastly better clarity, or a more fully realized version of the song? Either way, it would be wonderful if Mick released this. Maybe the Joe Strummer 003?

Re: Dog in a Satellite lyrics?

Thanks, Teddy...I really appreciate it. I definitely would not have figured out some of this in a million years. It is a wonderful song, and it's amazing Joe went from writing the overwrought lyrics of CtC to this in 18 months. His creative tank certainly refilled quickly after Clash II broke up, al...

Re: Dog in a Satellite lyrics?

It's a damn good song. Shame it was never knocked into shape. Have you thought about finishing it as an Indieground thing, like with 7 Years? Amazing work on 7 Years...I put it on a mixtape for my kids, and it's been a big hit with them. I have mentioned to Seb in the past. This is a little reminde...

Dog in a Satellite lyrics?

Wonderful tune, and I've made a go at the words...I did pretty well in parts, but there are swaths ("For Schtoon Diego" - ???) where I'm phonetic at best. The bits in red are the ones where I think I am most off, but feedback, edits and suggestions are welcome for all of it. thanks - chris Dog in a ...
