Mescaleros -- songs with the biggest impact
Which Mescaleros songs have made it into movies, tv shows, etc? As of now, the only ones I know are Minstrel Boy, Johnny Appleseed, and Mondo Bongo. I think it's interesting that these are all from Global, but I'm sure there are others. Anything from X-ray or Streetcore? Edit: And Ramshackle Day Par...

Re: Combat Rock contra Give Em Enough Rope [Poll]
Five or six years ago everyone would have thought this was a joke poll, now the CR contingent is almost a third of the board. I disagree. When I started posting on IMCT in 2003, there was very little support for GEER. Most people followed the overwhelming critical consensus that it sucked. I think ...

Re: Revolution Rock: Clash Jukebox
Thanks, Dancin Shoes is a good one. I've only heard the original Police on my Back once, but remembered it sounding more like R&B.Silent Majority wrote:Police on my Back?
I understand they messed about with Bob Marley's Dancing Shoes pre-Police and Thieves.

Re: Revolution Rock: Clash Jukebox
Thanks. I like the idea of Revolution Rock: Clash Jukebox, but it's a little too scattered for my liking, so I'm making a reggae only mix. Here it is, so far, in what I believe to be chronological order of when they were played. 1. Pressure Drop - Toots & the Maytals 2. Police and Thieves - Junior M...

Revolution Rock: Clash Jukebox
Hey y'all. Two questions: Can someone explain to me why the bolded songs were included on this (Did Strummer/Clash cover them at some point) ? Does anyone know if there were reggae versions of the italicized songs that the Clash based their reggae versions on? One more: Does anyone know if Matumbi's...

Re: Let us reflect: Listening to The Clash
My junior year of high school, 2002, a friend and I went to visit his girlfriend at college. On the drive up, we smoked some weed he had bought from a crack house earlier that day. After smoking, we realized the weed had crack in it -- I guess we shouldnt have been too shocked. We got to his girlfri...

Re: Wow...CCR corrected speed
Listened to my playlist last night; I am going to cut Jail Guitar Doors. It's good, but too verse/chorusy for this otherwise structurally bizarre mix. I thinkk I will fill the vacancy with FHTE City of the Dead. And I'm switching DST and SF around for dynamics reasons. Complete Control Clash City Wh...

Re: Wow...CCR corrected speed
Nah, got it off Essential Clash. Apparently (according to wikipedia) if you have CCR on any release except the 2000 US S/T, you have the correct version.

Would rather not post it since it's an official release. It's on I-tunes for a buck though.

Wow...CCR corrected speed
I've been living with the 2000 US s/t and finally just downloaded the correct version of CCR. Makes a HUGE difference. Always loved it live... and I actually like the studio version now, too! This new revelation just helps to confirm my belief that the Clash's peak was year and a half between the Cl...

Favorite S/T songs?
I've been obsessed with the S/T lately, and am wondering what the general consensus around here is about its best songs. I remember that a shockingly few amount of S/T songs cracked the top 20 on that old poll that I referred to a few posts ago. I seem to remember that none were in the top 10...is t...
