Re: I can't stand the blues
I might have mentioned it before, but Milwaukee has an interesting connection to pre-war blues. There is a town called Grafton, which is at the top of Milwaukee County. Grafton was the home of the Wisconsin Chair Company. They made furniture, including phonograph cabinets, and decided cheaply produ...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
I've been seeing more and more of "this [album] turns [year] today" pieces of late. Is it more a case of an easy way to generate content or the sense that we're regarding music/culture in the past tense now? I assume it's more the former, but can't dismiss the latter. It's just clickbait nonsense. ...

Re: The Mighty Musical Observations Thread
I tried listening to Preservation by the Kinks yesterday. I try every few years, hoping it finally clicks. Like most Ray Davies projects, there are moments where you think maybe, but Preservation is dull and pretty much impossible to listen to all the way through.

Re: NCAA Men's and Women's basketball tournaments
Hello, Does anyone follow either tournament? There's always an underdog /Cinderella story - often more than one. Although I have strong ties to the University of North Carolina, I'm enjoying NC State's run as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCYs8v0Xji4 We follow both. I wasn't shocked when Wi...

The Church on June 29th. it's been a little while since I've seen them live, but they're a great live band and still putting out good music.

Re: The David Bowie is God Thread
I recently read something on Reddit about Bowie's personas and how many he actually had and there was a discussion over what was a true persona and what was just a character. I'm of the opinion that the personas had to have appeared on tour, so: Ziggy Stardust - Ziggy Stardust Tour - January 1972 - ...

Re: The Kaleb Horton Deceased Latvian Foreign Minister Thread, 2024 Edition
I also just saw that Eric Carmen passed away. He's known to many for his slick 80's hits, but he did some excellent work with the Raspberries in the 1970's. They're not my favorite power pop group (a bit too lite), but they had some great tunes.
