I'm finally selling my 'Five Alive' 2 LP set

Well, it's been 15 years since I've had a turntable and 15 years since I last played Five Alive. Red version.

Anyone interested? Highest offer wins.

Re: My approximation of Mick's live tone 81/82

Yeah, a lot of flange for that era. The delay repeat sounds a touch long.

When I was trying to replicate Mick's sound I discovered you want a lot of bass and big speakers. The effects tend to thin out the signal so you want to really pump the low end on the amp.

Re: Clash City Showdown is back in print

Chris, this is pretty amazing to witness, as someone who corresponded with you when you contemplated Clash City Showdown as a fanzine -- I still have all that stuff when it existed in article form, including the cartoon spread that you did about your love of the band, and your encounters with them ...

Re: Marky Dread Remasters

Listening to these 83 shows, man...they were good then. Pete was a fabulous match for that frontline. Topper's human metronome thing was a huge asset but it also would often let Mick and Joe off the hook for remembering where the hell they were in a song. Pete hammers the cues so hard that it reall...

I saw the Pixies again, in 2017. It was the worst show that sold over 1000 tickets that I've ever seen. We left at maybe five songs in and I felt embarrassed to have attended.

Grim. There's a certain kind of band that simply isn't built for the long haul.

Re: The Clash observations thread.

The good news is that The Clash enjoyed the most remarkable afterlife I've seen of any band since The Beatles. I still find the renaissance amazing. I know, right? Especially given how low their stock had gotten during the 80s. Remarkable. Throughout the late 90s there was a constant rumor about th...

Re: Marky Dread Remasters

This sounds terrific, Marky.

These shows are so surreal, almost like Twilight Zone Clash. What could have been in another timeline.

Re: The Clash observations thread.

But the band given an understanding producer like Steve Lillywhite or even a Martin Rushent then CtC could've been a contender. The whole album was completely ruined by Bernie's ego. It's obvious he had seen the success his old pal Malcolm McLaren had achieved with "Buffal Gals" and The World's Sup...

Re: Holy (Cut the) Crap: Amazing This is England cover

I forgot who told me, but he was apparently runner up to replace Phil Rudd in ACDC in 1989 (Chris Slade got the job).

Can you imagine 1989 Pete posing for pictures with those mugs? Would not work.
