Re: Marky's new remasters thread

Just finished listening to the Sweet Revenge material. Its very clear how influential Derwood was in creating the Gen X guitar sound which Steve New, John McGeogh recreated for the eventual material on Kiss Me Deadly. The chemistry was there but not the alchemy to put it all together. At best, Sweet...

Re: Marky's new remasters thread

Thank you Marky for your work on all the Generation X stuff. As a band that's been largely ignored by any record company re-issue effort. Your special editions have been truly enlightening. I'm amazed at all the background detail you have discovered. The booklet for the Kiss Me Deadly material has p...

That's great news. Really looking forward to what you've achieved with the material recorded over these sessions. Thank you.

Re: Marky's new remasters thread

I'm seriously looking forward to the last installment of Marky's Generation X remasters, Kiss Me Deady. There is a lot of great material that went unloved from that time, even from the early sessions with Derwood and Mark Laff in the band. Did the record company see them as a dead duck before the al...

Tom Bright - Young Old Bloke

Sorry if this has been mentioned before, but Mick and Glen Matlock feature on a compilation of songs "Young Old Bloke' by Tom Bright. It's on Spotify. Apparently, Mick plays some bass and piano on a few tracks and the material was recorded at The Bunker and embargoed by Tom's 1st record company.

Re: Marky's new remasters thread

If anyone hasn't grabbed this remaster yet, do it. The Sheffield live stuff is worth it alone. Great job Marky, I've listened to it all again today. I am so so looking forward to the Kiss Me Deadly SDE.

Re: Marky's new remasters thread

I agree. There's a lot of Springsteen lyrically and Mott musically.
The edit on Running with the Boss sound ep is spot on by the way.

Re: Marky's new remasters thread

Thank you Marky for the amazing work you are doing on the Generation X material. I had hoped the record label would have continued the re-releases after the debut album special edition. Your SDE remasters have more than taken that idea and ran further with it than I had ever expected. I look forward...

Re: Marky's new remasters thread

Marky, I've had a chance to listen to some of your remaster. This is a work of art. The info booklet and the cover artwork are worth downloading alone. The 1st lp has the width on the guitars which allows you to hear how good Derwood was. Considering this was recorded in a cheap studio on a limited ...

RIP Johnny.
Thinking of the family and wishing them well during this sad time.

Johnny's stories put a lot of meat on the bone, to some of the Clash's legendary tales.
